Here is my VERY quick post of my Picture of the Day! (It is already almost 3am on 12/29/11!!!) I haven't been posting because I have been taking the holiday off to spend time with my family!!! I will try to post a few extra posts in the coming days to make up for it!

For now...here is my Picture of the Day...this was taken this past October in Old Sacramento...I love the feel of this photo...and I put a vintage tone on top of it to make it even more old fashioned!!!

My SacBride Magazine COVER has arrived!!! AND a look back 10 years....

Well...it is finally here!!! The SacBride magazine in which my picture graces the cover has arrived!!! (REMINDER: This cover will not arrive in stores OR online until around MARCH!!!) Thought I would take a picture of them in the box I got them in.  It has been about 5 years since these boxes have been arriving at my doorstep...WISHING the cover this year would FINALLY be mine!

Last year I came close...tied for third place. That was actually very significant in a less obvious way, and only to me. So I will share the reason with you...

Before I started advertising in SacBride 5 years ago, I was looking through the magazine and thinking HOW cool it would be to have my pictures in there. And who is this photographer I KEEP SEEING ALL OVER??? I have to admit, I was a bit jealous...will I ever be that GOOD??? Well can you take a wild guess at WHO I TIRED FOR THIRD WITH???? YES YES YES...it was her! So even though it was a tie AND 3rd it held a meaning for me of an accomplishment...not the 3rd place part, but to be honest...more about where I am this year....as a company and a business.

So as I was taking a look back at Christmas cards and letters of the past, I came across a letter I wrote and sent out to friends and family TEN years ago announcing my NEW BUSINESS venture into photography.  It had an adorable picture of my oldest (she was about 5) in her little ballet outfit during dance class in black and white. Along with the picture I had the lyrics of a new-ish song at the time, "I Hope You Dance".

In the spirit of Christmas and beginning a new year...here is to a look FORWARD. I will post my youngest daughter, now 5, in her ballet outfit, this past month, at her first dance recital. AND my favorite parts of the lyrics the "I Hope You Dance" song. Here is to 10 more years and to YOUR endeavors in this coming new year! EnJOY!!!

May you never take one single breath for granted

Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens

Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances but they're worth taking

Don't let some hell-bent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out reconsider

Time is a wheel in constant motion always
Rolling us along
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder
Where those years have gone

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance....

Picture of the Day - 12/13/11 -" Like Father...Like Son"

I know this is a little off from the normal picture I post...BUT it is all about capturing the "moments" right?

Well ... check out this walk of a father and son "moment by moment"...
they are walking exactly....the same!
It made me smile! This was just a few minutes before marrying the lovely Victoria!

It reminds me of when my family was in Disneyland and I saw my dad and brother walk away and my mom said, "Look...they look exactly the same walking!"
A moment I remember from more then 20 years ago!

(Here are the 3 pics of the day!)

PICTURE OF THE DAY - 12/11/11

I chose this picture as my "Picture of the Day" for today because...well...because it is awesome! I love the sun streaking in and the rainbow...the LAST time I had a perfect rainbow like this, that I captured in a photograph was when I did their engagements! LOVE when the sun invades my photography!!

It is one of my favorite's of their photo shoot in Old Sacramento. That is why I chose it for today's

Ashleigh liked a picture of a couple walking hand in hand focusing on the hands..
so we recreated it here on the tracks.

Picture of the Day - 11/26/11 "The First Moment of Seeing the Bride"

I picked this picture as my picture of the day that I took at my wedding yesterday. I probably picked it because of the emotional connection I have with it because it is fresh in my mind. The ceremony was at 5pm and sunset was at 4:30...SO this requires pictures first!
Knowing I was going to have to create what photographers call a "reveal", I immediately knew when I saw the staircase THIS was where we would be doing it.

I normally DO NOT suggest that a bride and groom see each other before a wedding, mostly because I believe most little girls picture herself walking down the isle for most of their lives (I know I did) and I will not subject what my be easier for me as a photographer to ruin a dreamed about moment!!!
All of the bride and grooms family were already gathered for family photo's so I asked all of the family to gather around. I then asked the mother's if they would like to be at the top of the stairs or the bottom. (I suggested that the groom's mother be at the top to see her son's perspective and the bride's mother be at the bottom to see her daughters) It was a beautiful reveal shared with the whole family and wedding party!

It was spoke about in the toasts how special the moment was! I am so glad to have been apart of making special a moment that was dreamed about....different BUT special!

"The First Moment of Seeing the Bride"

Here are a few more pictures of the beautiful moment...enJOY!

Congratulations Simeon and Andrea!!!

Picture of the Day - 11/23/11 "The Moment It All Begins"

PICTURE OF THE DAY

For today's pick I am choosing this picture I found the other day. When I saw it, the first thought I had was "This is when it begins!" Sometime "people" don't understand how long some of us DREAM about our wedding days. This is how it starts.

"The Moment It Begins"

This was the flower girl and niece of the bride. This is what she was watching:

Too cute!

PICTURE OF THE DAY 11/21/11 "The Moment Before Everything Changes"

With wedding season winding down...that means that the editing and album making to get all pictures done by Christmas the crunch is on and consuming so much of my time. Therefore I don't have much time to post weddings on here.

I seem to fall in LOVE with a picture everyday out of the 500 or so that I find myself editing per day. So until January when things will be slower...I am going to try to do a picture a day as "Picture of the Day" post. Wish me luck! EnJOY!

I love dad's hands touching his daughters arm
just moment's before walking her down the isle...LOVE IT!

I HAVE NEWS!!! I WON THE COVER OF SACBRIDE MAGAZINE!!!!

I am so excited to announce that this morning I got a phone call...I won the cover of Sacramento Bride and Groom Magazine!!! http://www.sacbride.com I have come close in years past (5th runner up and last year tied for 3rd runner up) This was one of those things I had aspired to do a few years ago when I first stepped into the advertising world. Last years placement was cool (tied for 3rd) because the photographer I tied with...was someone "I wish I could be like someday"...so that was cool! BUT THIS NEWS IS AWESOME!!! My cover will be on stands sometime around March 2012...look for it!!!

Here is the awesome picture of Scott and Meghan that won!!!

How to have FUN at your engagement shoot??? Do it at a CARNIVAL!!!

Here is a sample of the engagement shoot I did this past September for John and Bernadette. I know when I met them they were looking to do their engagements at a fair or carnival. They kept their eye open for one and found the County Fair in Auburn that had this FUN carnival!!!! We had ALOT of fun! And they turned out awesome!!!! I hope you enjoy this post!!!!

Here was our first spot....right next to the Merry-Go-Round...the sun was just in the most perfect spot ever!

And yes...I made them GET on...what would be the fun if we didn't!!!
I will admit, it did make me a little dizzy!!! Lol

One of my favorite shot's of the day...

Next stop...the games. We didn't choose to really play many games here,
we all know that is a waste of money!

When I saw this shot in my camera, I knew this shoot was going to be awesome!

After a wardrobe change, we were off again. We WAITED for perfect timing to get this ride in motion. It would have been awesome had they wanted to RIDE on this one...
John said "No way!" and I didn't blame him a bit!

This was so cute! They brought this with them to use!

Now in front of the Ferris Wheel and add balloons!!!

This wall is an awesome wall...here is it this way...

...but the wall THIS way...is even cooler!!! LOVE IT!!!

As the sun started to go down...I got some awesome shots or the lights, rides, sunset and the couple!!!
Enjoy these last few shots!!!
